Bimetallic platinum–cobalt nanoparticles were co-deposited on a carbon-ceramic electrode
(Pt-Co/CCE) surface using a simple one step electrochemical process. The obtained catalyst is
characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry.
The fabricated electrode was used as an anode for the electrooxidation of formic acid (FA) in
0.1 M H2SO4 solution. It was found that Pt-Co/CCE was catalytically more active than
platinum nanoparticles (alone) supported on the same substrate. On the other hand, the
results showed that the presence of Co greatly enhances the activity of Pt towards the
