In this study a sensitive enzymeless glucose sensor based on reduced graphene oxide-nickel oxide
(rGO-NiO) nanocomposite bulk-modified carbon ceramic electrode (rGO-NiO/CCE) was reported.
The rGO-NiO/CCE was prepared by dispersing of rGO-NiO nanocomposite into sol–gel precursors.
During the hydrolysis of ethyl triethoxysilane, rGO-NiO was trapped into the gel, which after molding
and drying was used as a renewable and polishable electrode. Cyclic voltammogram of the rGONiO/CCE
in hexacyanoferrate(II/III) showed an improved electron transfer rate in comparison with
NiO/CCE, rGO/CCE and CCE. The electrocatalytic performance of rGO-NiO/CCE toward the electrooxidation
of glucose was studied thoroughly.
Wide linear range of
25–2650
μM,
low
detection
limit
of
12.43
μM,
and high sensitivity of 1.55 μA μM
–1
cm
–2
were reported for the rGO-NiO/CCE proving suitable performance of the prepared sensor in comparison with other glucose sensors. In order to
verify the reliability of the electrode, determination of glucose in serum samples was studied and
satisfactory results were obtained.
