چکیده
This studywasdoneinordertocomparethemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesoffrictionstir welded singleanddoublephasebrassalloys.Themicrostructureofthejointswereexaminedusing optical microscope,scanningelectronmicroscope(SEM),scanningtransmissionelectronmicroscope (STEM), andX-raydiffraction.Furthermore,tensiletestandfractographywereappliedtoevaluatethe mechanical propertiesofthejoints.Theresultsshowedthatthegrainsizeofthestirzoneinthedouble phase jointwassmallerthanthatofthesinglephasealloy.Incomparisonwithbasemetals,bothofthe joints containedhighdensityofdislocationswithaqualitativelysimilartexture.However,thedislocation density ofthedoublephasejointwassomewhatlowerthanthatofthesinglephaseone.Moreover,the joints hadhighertensilestrength,lowerelongationandlessductilefracturecomparedtotheirbase metals duetotheir finer grainsizeandhigherdislocationdensity.Thedoublephasejointhadhigher strength andlowerelongationthansinglephasejointduetotheeffectofthesecondphase.
