Bioindicators are living organisms such as Protista, Plants, and animals that can be used to estimate of ecosystem health. Freshwater animals are one of the sensitive groups that can be used to monitoring and assessment of aquatic. These animals are often regularly exposed to metals pollution and they are valid indicative features in ecosystems. This research examined and traced some of metals (As, Cd, Cu, and Pb) in a model of the aqueous food web in the Pakhir River, located in northwestern of Iran. The selected model included the zander (Sander lucioperca L.) and amphipods (Gammarus spp). Totally 50 samples (20 fish and 30 Amphipoda) were collected randomly and examined for metals using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). Our results revealed that the concentration of heavy metals were in the order of As > Pb > Cd > Cu and accumulation of heavy metals in fish body were higher than Gammarus spp. Also, this concentration ranges in station (3) were higher than other station due to industrial activities in Sungun copper mine. In the present research, the amounts of As, Pb and Cd, exceeded the standards international limited.
