Heavy metal ions, aromatic compounds and organic dyes are the major pollutants in water resources and removal of them from wastewaters is currently one of the most important environmental tasks for research. For this purpose, in this study, the synthesis of a nanocomposite based on natural zeolite (clinoptilolite, Clin) for the simultaneous removal of Cr (VI) ions and concord dye (CR) was performed. The synthesized material was identified by FTIR, XRD, and FESEM. Also, the simultaneous removal studies of Cr (VI) and CR were modelled and optimized with the response surface methodology, and in the optimal state, the maximum simultaneous removal percentage of Cr (VI) and CR was obtained 100% and 88%, respectively. Examination of the isotherm models showed best agreement with the Langmuir model. Also, the kinetic data had a better match with the pseudo-second order model. Evaluation of the stability and recovery of the adsorbent by performing five consecutive cycles of adsorption and desorption process, showed the high capability of the adsorbent for reuse.
