Under the progressive collapse induced by the instantaneous removal of the column, adjacent members to the removed column undergo large nonlinear deflections. Furthermore, redistribution of forces happens in adjacent members to the removed column to maintain the global stability of the structure. The strength and ductility of the adjacent members to the removed column have a significant effect on the structural response under progressive collapse. As mentioned before, chloride-induced corrosion deteriorates the strength and ductility of the RC sections. Therefore, in corroded RC buildings under the progressive collapse, redistribution of forces and structural response are affected essentially by corrosion. So, evaluation of the structural behavior of the corroded RC buildings under the progressive collapse using the exact nonlinear modeling procedure, and nonlinear dynamic analysis considering the material and geometric nonlinearities has significant importance to accurate estimation of response of the sound and corroded RC buildings.
