Patulin is a hazardous fungal metabolite that presents a potential threat to human health, particularly via the ingestion of apple juice and its derivatives. Due to the extensive use of apples in the juice business and the appeal of these products across all age demographics—especially among children—monitoring patulin levels is crucial to avoid chronic dietary exposure. Notwithstanding international restrictions, several nations, notably Iran and Iraq, possess inadequate monitoring systems for this pollutant. The lack of systematic data about patulin levels in apple-based goods in various areas presents significant problems. This study will provide critical insights into the safety of commonly consumed juices and concentrates, bolster public health protection, and establish a scientific basis for enhancing national food safety standards and regulatory policies in both nations.
