چکیده
Abstract The study examined procrastination relationship with psychological empowerment and procrastination prediction among physical education and sports faculty members. The study population included all physical education and sports sciences faculty members of East Azarbaijan Province universities, among which 54 members randomly were selected as samples. Procrastination and psychological empowerment questionnaires were used to collect the required data. To analyze data independent t-test and ANOVA were used to compare groups and Pearson correlation coefficient was used for surveying the relationship between variables at p≤0.05 level. Also, stepwise multiple regressions were used for procrastination prediction. Based on the results the mean score of procrastination was significantly lower than the average value and the mean score of psychological empowerment was significantly higher than the average score. The differences in scores of procrastination and psychological capabilities and their subordinates with regard to faculty members' marital status, academic degree and academic rank were not significant (p≥0.05). Procrastination, psychological empowerment and their subordinates were negatively correlated (p=0.006), in other words, the procrastination reduces by psychological empowerment increasing. Also, procrastination could be predicted 17% by faculties' psychological empowerment. Results indicate that physical education and sports sciences faculty members usually avoid procrastination in their behaviours and also are in a good state of psychological empowerment.
