چکیده
Introduction: Insulin sensitivity is one of the topics that is very important, because the sensitivity of cells to insulin prevents the occurrence of diabetes. The results of some studies have reported that exercise without losing body weight may improve insulin sensitivity. Researchers have shown that insulin sensitivity can be assessed indirectly through valid indicators, which are calculated using insulin and blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise on insulin sensitivity indices (HOMA-IR, QUICKI, McAuley's) and body composition in men with metabolic syndrome. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 20 men with metabolic syndrome with an age range of 40 to 60 years were selected and randomly divided into two groups: control (n=10) and aerobic training (n=10). The exercise protocol included aerobic exercise for 12 weeks with a sequence of 3 sessions per week and each session lasted 45 minutes with an intensity of 60-70% of maximum heart rate. The variables were measured before and after the exercise intervention. The data were analyzed using the correlated t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Results: The results of the dependent t-test showed that in the training group, in the post-test compared to the pre-test, there was a significant difference in the averages of all variables (p≤0.05). Also, the results of analysis of ANCOVA test showed that in the post-test the values of insulin sensitivity indices: HOMA-IR (p=0.001), McAuley's index (p=0.001), QUICKI (p=0.001) and Metabolic Z (p=0.004), triglyceride (p=0.001), body fat percentage (p=0.012), body mass index (p=0.05) and waist size (p=0.047) p) and maximum oxygen consumption (p=0.041) was significant. Conclusion: According to the obtained results, it seems that aerobic exercise through improving insulin sensitivity indicators can improve glucose removal from blood and help to control blood sugar and provide optimal body composition in middle-aged me
