Joanne Kathleen Rowling (July 31, 1965) is one of the most celebrated writers in British history. Her novels became popular among a generation who were giving up the habit of book reading and soon enough, the bookshops were filled with enthusiasts who could not stop reading the newly published Harry Potter book. Rowling’s perfect depiction of the battle between what is easy and what is right has been the most important theme in all the volumes. Also, the consideration of morals and accepting the responsibility to make the right choices have been encouraged throughout the novels. Most critics agree that Rowling is a trauma writer who channeled her trauma through her books. Moreover, several of her important characters who have suffered trauma and the loss of their loved ones become heroes who sacrifice themselves to protect others. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to clarify the reasoning behind the life-altering choices made by each character and the person they have chosen to become afterward. The theories and studies of theoreticians like Caruth, Rosegrant, Alexander, and Levine have been used to provide the reasons and to explore the trauma theories in Rowling's three novels: Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
