Magnetic solid phase extraction and determination of some drugs from biological and environmental samples by using carbon coated magnetic nanoparticles
چکیده
Solid phase extraction (SPE) is a routine extraction method for determining trace level contaminants in environmental and biological samples. A new procedure for SPE, based on the use of magnetic or magnetically modified adsorbents called magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). It adopts magnetic particles as adsorbents, which endow some unique features in extraction and solve some problems associated with ordinary SPE. In this study, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) were synthesized by a simple chemical co-precipitation method [1]. Fe3O4MNPs were then modified by carbon via a hydrothermal method by reaction between glucose and Fe3O4MNPs [1]. Fe3O4MNPs and carbon coated Fe3O4 (C/Fe3O4) MNPs were characterized by different methods such as field emission scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared, X-ray power diffraction, etc. The prepared C/Fe3O4 MNPs were employed for MSPE of amlodipine, losartan, and carvedilol. After extraction the drugs were determined by high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC–UV). Several factors influencing on the extraction efficiency of drugs such as pH, adsorbent amount, ionic strength, and extraction time were optimized by multivariate optimization. Under the optimal MSPE conditions the analytical performance such as limits of detection, limits of quantification, relative standard deviations, dynamic linear ranges, enrichment factors, etc. have been calculated.
