In the context of an increasingly interconnected world, the incorporation of humanistic approaches in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classrooms proves essential for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This narrative review explores the significant positive impacts of humanistic education, emphasizing moral emotions such as empathy, responsibility, and respect, on classroom management, learner engagement, motivation, and overall learning outcomes. By focusing on the emotional and psychological needs of students, the humanistic approach not only enhances academic performance but also promotes personal growth and intercultural sensitivity. This review highlights innovative teaching methodologies, such as participatory learning, Collaborative Language Learning, and contextualized activities that align with student needs and emotions, thereby encouraging active participation and self-directed learning. Additionally, this paper addresses the challenges educators face when implementing humanistic principles, including cultural resistance and rigid curriculum constraints. Recommendations for effective teaching practices and further research avenues are provided, aiming to enrich the educational experience and nurture moral development in diverse classroom contexts.
