The importance of translation in transferring the cultural instances of the source community to the target one is not hidden. Therefore, providing a translation with appropriate and acceptable equivalents is not unexpected. One way to examine the efficiency of a good translation is to investigate its employed strategies. Based on Lawrence Venuti’s domestication and foreignization strategies, the present descriptive study will examine the extent to which these two strategies are used in the Persian translation of The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan. Recent studies showed that domestication and foreignization strategies had been used complementarily. The role of the translator in providing a fluent translation, along with the number of strategies used in this work, will be discussed throughout the study.
