The significance of the current study is derived from the indispensable current status of English as a foreign Language in Iraqi context where high-school students spend hours in EFL classes without being able to develop the communicative skills required for using English in real contexts. The goal of employing TBLT in English instruction is to help students develop communicative skills through engagement in interactive classroom procedures. This research may offer new perspectives toward the root causes of Iraqi EFL teachers’ unwillingness in recruiting the suggested procedures of TBLT. The findings of this study will help foreign language learners and teachers of English as a foreign language in Iraq choose a more effective method of teaching English. In addition, it is believed that the current study will offer other researchers some trustworthy perspectives, methods, and empirical evidence for subsequent research on overcoming the inefficacies attributed to TBLT in non-western communities. Finally, the researcher expects that the completion of the present study will offer constructive suggestions regarding the application of basic principles proposed by TBLT to the Iraqi context of English education at high schools.
