Article is one of the writing genres. There are numerous types of articles, designated and described by different names such as research articles, news articles, review articles, investigative articles, and etc. they are categorized into four major groups; academic, newspaper, special-interest, and profession. Research articles are basically considered as academic articles. According to Hyland, (2007) research articles have been a medium used by the academicians to communicate new knowledge to members of the academic community. They have special significance among academic communities since they give the researchers the opportunity to exhibit the research and writing skills that they have achieved through their studies in school and university. Not only do research articles serve as evidence that the researchers achieved the required knowledge and research skills in a particular field but also show their ability in sharing those knowledge and skills with their supposed audience. Writing an article demonstrates the researchers’ awareness and understanding of authoritative voices on the topic, and should show their original, meaningful, and critical thinking, as well as their mastery of the chosen topic.
