The main objective of this thesis is to read Heart of Darkness against the grain, which means that the research will prove, contrary to the previous research, that Conrad is working with the mechanisms of Imperialism and expansionism of West and gives stereotypical images of the East and tries to penetrate the Africa and expand European ideology. He is complicit with the hegemony of the West by writing about the secrets of Africa and the Congo River. Heart of Darkness gestures towards an imperialist expansionism of Europe and the author is working for the benefits of the West in Africa. The thesis aims at showing the heart of whiteness by laying bare the ideologies of Western expansionism. Another aim is to show that heart of whiteness is the expansion of the European hegemony. The research aims to read and deconstruct this novel and to have a feminist reading, structuralist, and postcolonial reading of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.
